PPC – what is it?

Of all the online marketing strategies on the web, PPC is probably the most mis-understood. I guess it is partly down to mis-communication. It is not the easiest strategy to get your head around, which is probably why it gets overlooked so often.
So what is PPC? In its simplest terms it isĀ ‘a pay-for-performance pricing model where advertising (such as banners or paid search engine listings) is priced based on the number of clickthroughs rather than impressions or other criteria.’
Let’s say for examples sake, you search on Google for the term ‘property investment courses’. When all the listings appear, you’ll also notice a list of adverts situated on the right of the page. These as a rule are PPC campaigns.
Similar to SEO, PPC focuses on the utilisation of popularly searched for keywords. The only key difference is that I place these keywords into banners and adverts to attract attention from surfers.
Admittedly setting up a PPC campaign is abit more complicated than this. To make full use of this tool, you need to research and have a strong budget to work with while you are experimenting with your adverts, but with practice you can use PPC to help boost your leads and increase your sales.
It is just a question of practice, practice, practice…
