Working imagery into your copy

Sometimes the image choices you make can be just as vitally imporant as the content you write yourself.
I know, I know… the general rule about online marketing is that strong copy is the real decider between a surfer choosing to make a purchase or not. And this is right. Poor copywriting will lead to poor sales. But if you use powerful image, such as the one on the left you can offer your website an extra guarantee.
A tamer image such as the one on the right can have the opposite effect.
Now this is not to discount this image. If used on property website, it would make perfect sense. But place it on the wrong page and you could end up making your surfer pause for all the wrong reasons.
Let’s say for exmaple you decide to place this image on the ‘Meet our team’ section of your website. The first thing you would ask yourself as a surfer is ‘why on earth have they have put this image here?’
It is the same rule of using a picture of your pet cat or dog on an accountancy website. Yes, it is cute and adorable at a first glance, but in helping to make your website appear authoriative, no.
For this reason it is important that you choose the right imagery to compliment your copy; that credibly links to the theme of the page and leaves a positive impression in the surfers memory.
