Copy world’s Top 5 Tips

Looking to revolutionise your copy? Our latest top 5 tips can offer you just that…..
By bearing the following 5 areas in mind when producing your copy, you can ensure that your website receive the right attention:
Language – Core to any successful online marketing strategy is using the right language. Writing for a weight loss product? You need to incorporate a personal tone, that is empathic and ‘you’ focused. Advertising an Accountancy firm? The language you choose here needs to project the professionalism of your website, whilst not segregating your audience.
Remember, the average surfer has the reading age of an 11 year old, so using excessive amounts of technical terminology is more likely to deter them from your service than encourage them to choose you.
Tone of Voice – Same as the point above, you need to give surfers the confidence to believe in your product/service. This is where the sales comes in.
If for example the goal behind your copy is make surfers invest in one of your products, you first need to develop a trust with them that reassures them that your service is the right one for them. This is achieved offering surfers access to case studies and testimonials within your site, whilst being selly.
What you need to be careful with here is not coming across too pushy or false in your language. Confidence is good don’t get me wrong, but if you are giving surfers more sales speak than explaining the real benefits of your product/service then you are running the risk of coming across as fake. It is important to remain credible, reassuring and lastly believable.
Audience – Depending on your target audience, you will need to tailor your copywriting to them. Going back to the first point, if you are writing for a weight loss product, you will encounter an audience you are looking for a helping hand. A product that can help them to achieve their goals, whilst understanding their needs.
To achieve this, you need to offer a variety of pages within your website that answers all their underlying queries: medical backing, case studies, experts and most importantly how your product works.
Product awareness – you need to be conscious of your competition. For example, how are they doing on sales? How are they choosing to target their audience? What is their key selling point?
For a property investment company offering training courses, there needs to be an unique element about your course that makes it stand out from the rest? There needs to be a reason for surfers to choose your service above others.
Once you know this, you need to translate this into your copy and make sure all your CTA’s refer to this unique quality.
SEO – you may already be aware of search engine optimisation, but when we say using seo within your website can be beneficial we mean it. By using the relevant keywords within your content you can increase your websites ranking on Google and Yahoo, ensuring more surfers have access to your company.
To do seo effectively we recommend you speak to a seo specialist who can help you to determine the right keywords for your product/service. Once you have a selection of 30-40 words, you can begin to integrate them – subtly – into your copy and sit back and watch as your website rises in ranking.
